  1. Could you please provide me with some information regards closed reductions of the Boxer's fracture?

  2. Usually done with a 90/90 technique where the MCP is flexed to 90 degrees, the PIP is flexed to 90 degrees and you push up on the head of the proximal phalanx while pushing down on the 5th metacarpal, proximal to the fracture. This lets you use the proximal phalanx to guide the distal metacarpal fragment back into place. Hope this helps!

  3. what kind of sterile technique do you use? do you cover the probe with a sterile sheath for these blocks?

Welcome

Welcome to the Point of Care Ultrasound blog. My hope is to inspire active learning and discussion in a forum for exchange of ideas on the use of ultrasound by clinicians at the patient's point of care (ER, ICU, OR, wards, clinics, pre-hospital, austere, etc.) My hope is to post something whenever time permits, and to include images, videos, lectures and links to references that can help others learn more about the many advantages of incorporating POC ultrasound into clinical practice.
